I haven't posted for a while and this has nothing to do with trading but it is very funny. In fact is this the funniest Google street view you have ever seen? I was at a friends house (Dow street, Port melb, Vic) looking at his house on Google Earth when we decided to see what was down a near by Lane. Bugger me this is what we viewed!!

He has come up with a plan to rescue the US from the credit crunch during a US TV talk show appearance,

"I was thinking," Crowe said.

"If they want to stimulate the economy and get people spending so they can look after their mortgage ... give everyone $1 million."

His reasoning is the US has a population of about 300 million, so the $US300 million outlay is a fraction of the $US700 billion financial bailout package rejected by politicians in Washington DC yesterday.

What!! can he add up? 300 million people given $1 million dollars each is $300,000,000,000,000 thats 300 trillion dollars. to make it 300 million you would be giving each yank $1. I'm not an expert in the seizing up of credit markets but I'm pretty sure everyone spending $1 ain't gonna do a lot.

Now lets give him the benefit of actually being able to add up and say that the report has him "miss-quoted" what would happen to the US economy if everyone was given 1 million bucks? It would be RUINED you idiot. Inflation would sky rocket as people spent money left right and center on non productive depreciating crap like plasma TVs and productivity would plummet. The economy would completely implode as a huge part of the workforce would just not bother to turn up for work. No bank clerks, no Starbucks barristers, no cops, no garbage collection. I mean why bother working for the next 5 years when you have a mill to blow?? Of course you would all have to go back to work eventually as the US dollar craps itself and it cost 1 million dollars to fill up your new Hummer.

The contract that matters is the NEW front month not the old expiring contract. On expiry with a 10th of the volume normally trading anything can happen, and does. Traders who know whats happening ignore it. BUT it seems the Muppets, sorry "reporters" are not in the market for good reason. They have no bloody idea what is happening. And the pollies will be all over it just like the "manipulative" shorts. Lets see if they report tomorrow that crude dropped $10 as the speculators cut and run!! IDIOTS.

What! This dude is meant to be a respected commentator on our markets yet he seems to be blindingly oblivious of what caused last weeks high volume in ASX stocks. It was the expiry of the September SPI futures contract and with it delivery or unwinding of some 100,000s of contracts and Arbitrage trades spread out over three months. We will not have another large volume week like that until December when the Dec contract expires. I do not know whether he is simply clueless as to the market mechanics he professes to be an expert on or he knows this but plans on feeding this crap to his punters as further justification of the "manipulators" evil actions. Amazing!!

We did not follow the US down today. Do not tell your readers that we followed the US down today. Do not stand in front of some smart graphic shots of last nights US falls and show our falls today as if that proves why we followed. Think about what happened. Pull up a chart if you know how to do that. Look at our action yesterday. This fall started at 10:45 our time, in our market. We entered a cascading sell off right at that time and didn't stop until we had lost 110 ticks on the SPI. Asia then opened for their afternoon session after we had closed and it was straight down for them. The UK followed and was down over 1% before the US opened. In fact the big falls in the US on Tuesday came from the UK cracking its uptrend and dropping 120 points before the US even opened. Traders are like a school of fish swimming in waters infested with danger, nothing matters until the head of the school moves then bang we all swing around to swim in a new direction. Most of the time you don't know which of the fish switched first but bloody hell do you idiot media monkeys always have to say it is the US?
